We operate over 27 full-day early learning and childcare centres across the Greater Hamilton Area, offering services for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children with extended before and after school care.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re searching for a compassionate and motivated Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children! This role will focus on supporting children with physical, behavioral, and mental health needs.

As a Support Worker, you’ll be working at our Viola Desmond Centre for 26.25 hours a week on a split shift schedule (Monday to Friday 7:00AM-9:00AM and 2:45pm-6:00pm), under the guidance of the Supervisor. This is a permanent part time position.

The hourly rate will be $20.71 per hour.

What You Bring to the Role
Experience

  • Hands-on experience in supporting children with diverse needs (physical, behavioural, or mental health)
  • Experience administering insulin and managing blood sugar readings
  • Ability to implement child-specific strategies, including medication and meal management

Education

  • Minimum Secondary School diploma or equivalent
  • Personal Support Worker certificate (preferred but not required)

Certifications

  • Standard First Aid with CPR level C
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations

Skills & Characteristics

  • Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? is an asset
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and professionally with children, families, and staff
  • Physically able to stand, walk, and assist with equipment and devices
  • A dedicated advocate for diversity, equality, and inclusion
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a dynamic team

What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting children, families, and staff where additional resources are needed. You will:

  • Work closely with program staff to implement classroom and child management techniques
  • Assist with documentation and updates on Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
  • Collaborate in alignment with How Does Learning Happen? to ensure a holistic and supportive environment for each child
