Location: Shannen Koostachin Centre
Total Weekly Hours: 25
Schedule: Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM and 3:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants): $20.93 per hour

Internal Closing Date: March 18, 2025

Who We’re Looking For
Experience
  • Practical experience supporting children with a variety of needs, including physical, behavioral, and mental health challenges; this may include children on the autism spectrum and those with medical needs.
Education
  • Minimum Secondary School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Personal Support Worker program or similar course is an asset

Certifications
  • Standard First Aid with CPR level C
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Proof of up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR)
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations

Skills & Characteristics
  • Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? is an asset
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and professionally with children, families, and staff
  • Physically able to stand, walk, and assist with equipment and devices
  • A dedicated advocate for diversity, equality, and inclusion
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a dynamic team

Key Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in supporting children, families, and staff where additional resources are needed.
  • Work closely with program staff to implement classroom and child management techniques
  • Assist with documentation and updates on Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
  • Collaborate in alignment with How Does Learning Happen? to ensure a holistic and supportive environment for each child
