For over 35 years, Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton has been a trusted provider of high-quality childcare and early learning programs. We operate full-day early learning and childcare centres for infants, toddlers, and preschool children, as well as extended-day programs before and after school for kindergarten and school-aged children. Who Are We Looking For?
We are seeking a passionate RECE Full Day Educator to join our team at the Greensville centre! In this role, you’ll collaborate with our skilled team to create meaningful, developmentally appropriate experiences that engage children and encourage their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth.
This is a temporary full-time position with a contract end date of November 30, 2024, offering 37.5 hours per week (including programming time) within our centre’s hours of operation (7:00 AM to 6:00 PM).

We’re looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience working directly with children OR experience in a childcare setting with school-aged children is preferred but not required
- Proven ability to plan and implement programs for toddlers and preschoolers
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education
- Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
- Standard First Aid with CPR level C certification
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Proof of up-to-date immunizations for TB, Tetanus, and MMR
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
- Familiarity with the Ministry of Education's How Does Learning Happen? framework is an asset
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and diverse environment
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
As an RECE Full Day Educator, your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests to promote their overall development
- Maintaining supervision and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for children aged 18 months to 4 years
- Organizing indoor and outdoor play spaces, materials, and equipment to create a welcoming environment
- Conducting daily health checks on children and documenting any concerns as required by the Ministry of Education
- Collaborating with colleagues and maintaining professional relationships with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board staff
